.. done Create Vote Links in an Email ============================= Vote Links are one of several special links you can compose in an email to send to a target group. .. seealso:: :doc:`../OnlineRegistration/VoteLinks` View a short demonstration of creating and using a Vote Link. .. raw:: html Requirements Before you can send a VoteLink there are a few steps you need to take: - **Involvement**: Have an active Involvement into which the people will be enrolled - **Registration Type**: Set to `Join Involvement` - **Messages Tab**: Select an `Email From person` - **Messages Tab**: Compose the `Confirmation email` if you want one to be sent (you have the option to send it or not) - **Recipients**: Find the target audience to receive your email .. note:: Selecting the right audience is vital to the success of your email effort. So, be very careful when creating your search, in order to ensure that you have the correct group to receive your Vote Link. .. seealso:: :doc:`EmailPeople` Create a Vote Link ------------------ Step 1 Select your target group using either Search Builder, a Tag, an entire Involvement, or a sub-group within an Involvement. Then select `Blue Toolbar > Envelope > Email > Individuals`. DO NOT use the `Single Email Addresses` option. Select a template and enter the `Subject`. Click in the body of the email and compose your message. Step 2 Click the `Insert Special Link` button above the toolbar to open the Special Links builder. Select **Send Link** from the `Type` drop down menu. Then enter the **Involvement ID#** in the Involvement ID field. Enter the `Message` you want to display on the screen after the person clicks the link. This is not the same as the email confirmation. Enter the name of the `Sub-Group`` into which he will be placed when he clicks the link. Select either "Yes, send confirmation" or "No, do not send confirmation" from the `Confirmation` drop down. Then click `Copy and Close` to save the link information. .. note:: If you are including more than one vote link in this email repeat step 2-3 above for each link. Step 3 Highlight the text in your email that will be the link and click the Hyperlink icon in the editor. Paste your copied URL in the **URL** field of the Link popup and click OK. Complete the email and then click `Save`. Send a test email by clicking `Test (Send To Yourself`).
