.. done Create Register Links in Emails =============================== A Register Link is one of several special links that you can embed in an email that will actually take your recipients to the Options page of an online registration as though they were logged in. The email recipient does not need a TouchPoint user account; they just need to be in the database and have a good email address. Vote Links are different. These links immediately enroll the person in your organization, but does not allow you to capture any other registration information or collect fees. Register Links are perfect when you have a registration that has questions, drop downs, checkboxes, etc. In other words, a registration that is more than just enrolling the person in an Organization. .. note:: Register Links are similar to Send Links, in that both of them take the person to the registration page. However, there are some specific cases where you would use Send Links instead of Register Links. .. seealso:: :doc:`/EmailTexting/ComposeSendLinks` 2 Types of RegisterLinks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Register Link displays the information for the **individual** to whom you sent the link, allowing people to register themselves as though they logged in. A Register Link2 displays a list of the entire **family** of the person to whom you sent the link, allowing people to select one or more family members to register. Both of these Register Links are created directly in the email that you will send to your target group. .. note:: Register links are designed for one-use only. You can register multiple people but you cannot return to the original email and click the link again and be able to use it. You will get the message "Link Used". If you want the person/family to be able to select another organization/registration that is associated with that same Master Org, put another Register Link or Register Link2 in the confirmation email. .. seealso:: :doc:`/EmailTexting/ComposeVoteLinks` Requirements Before you can send a Register Link or Register Link2 there are a few steps you need to take: - Set up the online registration `Organization` completely. - Be sure that you have selected an `Online Notify person` and have composed the `Confirmation email`. - If you are using a `Registration Type` that has a `Master Org` you will be using the `OrgID` of the `Master Org`, not for one of the individual (pick list) organizations. - Find your target audience. .. note:: Selecting the right audience is vital to the success of your email effort. So, be very careful when creating your search, in order to ensure that you have the correct group to receive your `RegisterLink` or `RegisterLink2`. .. seealso:: :doc:`/EmailTexting/EmailPeople` Compose a Register Link or Register Link2 ----------------------------------------- Step 1 Select your target group using either Search Builder, a Tag, an entire organization, or a sub-group within an organization. Then select `Blue Toolbar > Envelope > Email > Individuals`. Select a template and enter the `Subject`. Click in the body of the email and compose your message. Step 2 Using your mouse, highlight the portion of your text that you want the reader to click. This will become the link. Now select the `gold link` icon in the toolbar to open the Create Special Link dialog box. Step 3 Select Register Link or Register Link2 from the `Type` drop down menu. Then enter the Org ID# in the `OrgID/MeetingID#` field. That is all you need to do in this dialog box, as the person will be directed to the actual online registration as though they were logged on.   Click `OK` to save the link information. Step 4 Complete the email and then click `Save`. Send a test email by clicking `Test (Send To Yourself`). Once you are satisfied that the email is correct, click `Send`. .. important:: Remember, if your registration is either `UserSelectsOrganization`, `ComputeOrgByBirthday`, or `ManageSubscriptions` use the OrgID for the `Master Org`. .. admonition:: Email Address not on Record If you send a Register Link or Register Link2 to a child that does not have an email address on his record and you cc the parents, when the parent clicks the link to register the child, he will see a message that he should contact the church because the child does not have an email address on his record. However, if the link is sent directly to the parent (not cc'd) he will be able to register a family member whether or not that person has an email address on his record.
