Mobile Guest Mode

Note

Apple and Google increasingly expect apps to show meaningful content before anyone creates an account or signs in. Guest Mode gives your church a controlled way to meet that expectation, while also giving real visitors a way to browse public content before they decide to sign in.

Overview

With Guest Mode enabled, visitors can browse selected banners, media, and upcoming events in the mobile app without signing in. Outside of App Store review, you decide whether Guest Mode stays on so visitors can continue to browse this content.

Note

TouchPoint may temporarily turn Guest Mode on while your app is under App Store review. When review is finished, your setting is restored to whatever it was before.

Enable Guest Mode

Guest Mode is turned on and off in the database under Admin > Communication > Mobile App > Settings > Branding > Login.

  • Enable Mobile Guest Mode - Turns Guest Mode on or off. When this is off, the guest content endpoints described below are unavailable and visitors who open a Guest Media or Guest Events page see an empty state (No media available or No upcoming events).

Login screen appearance

Guest Mode reuses your existing login branding so the experience feels like the rest of your app:

  • Login Background Image - The background image shown behind the guest entry point on the login screen.

  • Welcome Title Color - The color used for the Browse as Guest text.

Guest Media and Guest Events

With Guest Mode on, two public pages serve content to unauthenticated visitors. Content selection follows the same public visibility rules used by TouchPoint Sites, without requiring visitors to sign in.

Guest Media

https://{yourchurch}.tpsdb.com/Mobile/Guest/Media

Shows video, audio, and currently airing livestreams that are marked Visible To Everyone. Visitors can filter by media type when more than one type is available.

Note

If you use TouchPoint Sites and have set a Resource Tab for Sermons (found under Admin > Communication > Sites > Settings > Media & Resources Library > Settings), media on that tab is excluded from Guest Media so it stays focused on general public content.

Guest Events

https://{yourchurch}.tpsdb.com/Mobile/Guest/Events

Lists Involvements with Show in Mobile checked that have a future meeting. Events are grouped by timing (this week, this month, and later). Where registration is open, guests can follow the registration link.

Note

This uses your Show in Mobile setting, not the separate Show in Sites flag. For more information on setting an Involvement Type to Show In Mobile, see our documentation page.

Note

When Guest Mode is off, these pages still load but do not return content. Guests see No media available or No upcoming events.

Setup Checklist

  1. ❑ Confirm at least one banner is Visibility = Everyone or Guest Only, with no Home Church or Status Flag restriction.

  2. ❑ Mark the media you want guests to see as Visible To Everyone (video, audio, and/or livestream).

  3. ❑ Check Show in Mobile on Involvements that should appear as guest events, and make sure they have upcoming meetings.

  4. ❑ Review Login Background Image and Welcome Title Color so the guest entry point matches your brand.

  5. ❑ Turn on Enable Mobile Guest Mode when you want guests (or Apple) to browse, or leave it to TouchPoint during App Store review.
