Connect Card¶
Connect Card turns the paper connect cards your guests fill out into people records in TouchPoint. Instead of typing each card by hand, staff or volunteers upload photos or scans of the cards, TouchPoint reads the information on each one, and a reviewer confirms the values before adding the person to TouchPoint — or updating the person who is already there.
Connect Card on the People menu¶
To open Connect Card, go to People > Connect Card.
How It Works¶
Working with connect cards follows four steps, each on its own tab of the Connect Card page:
Set up a card template. A template tells TouchPoint what is printed on your church’s card — which person fields and which extra values it collects. See Connect Card Templates.
Capture the cards. Upload photos or a scanned PDF of the cards on the Capture tab, or use Quick Capture on a phone or tablet at a welcome desk. Each card can be tied to the involvement and meeting it was collected at. See Capturing Connect Cards.
Work the queue. Every captured card lands in the Capture Queue, where you can see what still needs attention, filter the list, and resubmit or delete cards. See The Connect Card Capture Queue.
Review and import each card. On the Card Review tab, compare the card image with the values TouchPoint read from it, correct anything that was misread, choose whether the card is a new person or an update to someone already in TouchPoint, and import it. See Reviewing and Importing Connect Cards.
Getting Started¶
Turning Connect Card on
Connect Card is turned off by default. When it is off, Connect Card does not appear on the People menu and the Connect Card pages cannot be opened. It is turned on with the Enable Connect Card setting, which is found in settings under System > Administration.
Who can use it
Users with the Access role can open Connect Card, set up templates, capture cards, and work the Capture Queue.
Adding a new person or updating an existing person from a card requires the Edit or Admin role. Users without one of these roles can still review, skip, and reject cards.
Creating a new standard extra value from within the template editor also requires the Edit or Admin role.
